What is the lip augmentation procedure?
The lip augmentation and modeling procedure using hyaluronic acid is one of the most popular methods for enhancing the shape of the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring component of connective tissue, whose role is to retain water in the skin and ensure proper hydration. The products used for lip augmentation come in the form of a gel, which is safely injected using a needle. During the injection, the person performing the procedure controls the amount of substance and shapes the lips to achieve a natural effect.
How will I look after the hyaluronic acid treatment?

After the treatment with cross-linked hyaluronic acid, swelling may occur in the first few days, as hyaluronic acid is a humectant that binds water in the skin. The size and duration of the swelling depend on various factors, including the hydration level of the body and other conditions such as autoimmune diseases, blood thinning (e.g., from alcohol), or other inflammatory states in the body (e.g., dental caries). Typically, swelling is most pronounced in the first two days, especially on the second morning due to additional water binding overnight, while the entire recovery period lasts 4-6 weeks. During this time, the treatment area may occasionally bind water, which can lead to slight irregularities.
How does the procedure work?

Before proceeding with the lip modeling procedure, a detailed consultation is conducted with the practitioner, during which the desired effect, the amount of milliliters, and the technique are discussed. The second step involves numbing the lips with a special ointment for about 5-10 minutes. Hyaluronic acid has a gel-like consistency and is administered using thin, small needles, which helps minimize bruising and swelling after the procedure.
